A vehicle body having provision for left- or right-hand drive positions or for dual drive positions has the floor plate or pedal plate 5 provided with at least two sets of apertures for alternative positioning of the steering wheel, pedals and heater unit. As shown in Fig. 4 the auxiliary components are housed in a transverse body member formed by the rear wall 6 of the compartment 4 and the pedal plate 5. In Fig. 5 the apertures 17<SP>1</SP> are used to secure the steering column 9 and the apertures 18<SP>1</SP> the steering equipment. Apertures 14 are for accommodating pendant pedals for brakes and/or clutch or for the heater unit on that side of the vehicle not used for driving controls.
