Abstract

616,437. Bobbins. MILLARD, C. F. Sept. 2, 1946, No. 26303. [Class 120(iii)] A metal bobbin for yarn comprising concentric tubes a, b located between end flanges c, d, the outer tube b being located by annular formations, e.g. annular grooves, on the flanges and the inner tube serving as a tie member, is characterized in that the inner tube is screw threaded at least at one end to engage a complementary screw thread upon the adjacent flange. As shown in Fig. 1, an external thread a<SP>2</SP> upon the tube a engages a complementary thread within a boss d' upon the flange d, and a head a' upon the tube engages within a recess within the flange c. Both inner and outer tubes may have perforations, and the inner tube may be tapered. In a modification, Fig. 3, the inner tube i is threaded at each end to engage within bosses m 2 and k<SP>1</SP> provided upon the end flanges m and k respectively. In this modification, the flange m is smaller and the outer tube j at its lower end screws over the threaded boss k<SP>1</SP>, and is located at its upper end by a boss m<SP>1</SP> and an annular groove.
