[Class 106 (i)] A planimeter with two independent measuring mechanisms comprises a travelling arm 1 on which a frame 6 is locked by a clamping member 9. In the frame 6 are mounted two measuring rollers 7, 7<1> and counting discs 8, 81. An adjusting mark with a vernier 12 is provided on the frame 6 for use when the mechanisms are being moved along the tracing arm 1 or the two measuring mechanisms may be adjusted independently by means not shown in the drawings. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, the measuring rollers 20, 20<1> and counting discs 21, 211 are made of transparent material. Prisms 22, 22<1> project images of the graduations of the rollers through prisms 23, 23<1> on to a double prism 24. Prisms 25, 25<1> project images of part of the counting discs 21, 21<1> on to a double prism 26 situated directly under the prism 24. In front of the double prisms 24 and 26 is mounted the objective 27 of a microscope which has a ray-path refracted by a prism 28 and its eyepiece 29 next to the optical tracing member 2.
