Abstract
616,080. Mathematical drawing-appliances. SOMERVILLE, A. L. Aug. 26, 1946, No. 25506. [Class 97 (iii)] Apparatus for drawing trimetric drawings comprises a set-square of simple triangular shape having its edges set at angles suited to the chosen angle of view and provided on such edges with scale graduations whose unit dimensions are inter-related with one another in accordance with the relative proportional dimensions accorded to the edges of the object when drawn in a trimetric projection. The square 10, Fig. 3, may be transparent or opaque and, as shown, has angles of 60, 75 and 45 degrees. The edges of the projection of a cube x<1>, y<1>, z<1> are drawn parallel to the sides of the device with the aid of a T-square 16 and ordinary set-square 17. Formulµ are given for the determination of the angles of the device and the required scale ratios in terms of the angle between the y<1> co-ordinate plane of the object and the viewing plane and the angle made by lines joining points on the object with the corresponding points of the projection with the horizontal line lying in the same vertical plane as such lines.
