Abstract

609,828. Surveying-instruments. KHAREGAT, M. D. Jan. 14, 1946, No. 1255. [Class 97 (ii)] A surveying instrument comprises plane mirrors 1, 2, each having a projecting part such as 6, 7 adapted to fit in a gap in the other with corresponding edges in close relationship, the mirrors being mutually pivotable on spindle 5 so that their planes intersect; a guide line 13 is provided on each mirror at right angles to the axis of intersection, both lines being in the same plane. The frame 4 of the mirror 2 carries a pointer 9 and the frame 3 of the mirror 1 carries a scale 8 graduated to show twice the angle between the mirrors and indicating also standard angles of bend employed in drainage work. The frame 3 carries a spirit level 11 and the frame 4 a supplementary pivoted mirror 12 having a guide line 14. The scale 8 is preferably detachable for packing flat with the mirrors. According to the Provisional Specification the mirrors have an unsilvered portion near the pivot axis.
