Abstract
615,532. Spinning and twisting spindle arrangements. SACO-LOWELL SHOPS. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21745. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1941. [Class 120(ii)] A spindle arrangement for spinning and twisting machines of the kind including a non-rotative spindle 2, a sleeve 5 fitted on to an extension 17 of a whirl 12, and two bearings 6, 7 has the upper bearing 6 and preferably the lower bearing 7, also, selfaligning. The spindle 2 has fixed to it a bolster 3 with a flange a supported on an extension b of a base member 4. The bolster 3 is made slightly smaller than the internal bore of the base member 4 to allow a slight swinging movement of the spindle 2 but is keyed to prevent relative rotation. A sleeve 10 pressed on to the lower end of the spindle 2 has an external diameter smaller than that of the internal bore of the part of the base member 4 in which it is suspended. The bearings 6, 7 may be of ball, needle or other suitable type. An oil cup 14 is fitted on to the top of the spindle and has a felt or like absorbent pad 15 through which oil seeps to a hole 16.
