Abstract

615,061. Agricultural implements. RANSOMES, SIMS, & JEFFERIES, Ltd., and GARRARD, J. R. Aug. 21, 1946, No. 24949. [Class 6 (i)] A reversible disc plough is provided with a single rear wheel, the inclination of which to the line of draught is reversed automatically on reversing the discs. The invention is shown applied to a plough similar to that described in Specification 336,801 [Class 6 (i)] and having a cranked frame 3 in which is mounted a rotatable beam 1 carrying ploughing discs. The rear end of the beam carries a bevel gear 5 which is engaged by a toothed sector 8 to rotate the beam and reverse the discs. The sector is rotated by a hand lever 11. The rear wheel 12 is mounted on a cranked axle 13 carrying a tongue 24 which locates itself in a forked member 26 when the wheel is in its working position. The forked member is swung from side to side on the rotation of the beam by an eccentric pin mounted on an extension 6 of the plough beam. For transport the rear wheel may be lowered, and the main frame thereby raised, by a lever 19 and quadrant 17, and, when this occurs, the tongue 24 no longer engages the fork 26 and the rear wheel casters freely.
