Abstract

614,722. Inductances. KOLSTER BRANDES, Ltd., ATKINSON, A. B., MURRAY, G. C. V., and TRIER, R. H. July 22, 1946, No. 21831. [Class 38 (ii)] The law of variation of the inductance of a high-frequency coil 1 against the movement of a magnetic core 6 is modified by associating one or more pieces of conducting or magnetic material with the coil. The coil mav be wound on a tubular former 2 which is supported between end plates 3 which also support a number of thin rods 4. Plates of conducting material may be secured to these rods, preferably by solder. Fig. 2 shows plates 8 of any suitable material carrying rings 9 of conducting or of magnetic material. A plurality of such variable inductances may be ganged to a unitary control.
