Abstract

613,789. Soles for footwear. POWELL, H. W. July 3, 1946, No. 19899. [Class 17 (ii)] A shoe sole has a substantially continuous flat surface on its under or tread side and is made as a moulded unitary article with heel and sole portions'2, 1 respectively and wedge shape medial portion 3. The upper surface forms a continuous face and a raised ridge 4 may be provided around the whole or .part of its perimeter to imitate a welt and to form a shallow recess within which an insole may be accommodated. The underside may be channelled to receive stitching by which insole is held in position, and be cross grooved at 7, 7a, 7b to enhance the grip. Weight lightening recesses 10 may also be provided.
