Abstract

613,077. Road traffic signs. HODGE, N. D., and RUTHERFORD, A. C. May 15, 1947, No. 14657/46. [Class 3(ii)] [Also in Group X] In precast kerb blocks 1 there is formed on the face adjacent the road vertical or nearly vertical light reflecting serrations, each of which is formed by a plane surface 3 presented to oncoming traffic and a reflexly curved surface 2 extending to the plane surface of the next serration. If the blocks are not made of a light coloured material the serrations are formed on a light coloured insert. The serrations are arranged in sets and may gradually increase in height or be staggered vertically .with respect to each other. Rainwater is collected by a channel on the top of the block and by way of suitably disposed grooves is utilized to clean the reflecting surfaces. Adjacent blocks are interconnected by tongue and groove joints.
