[Class 75 (iii)] In an electric lighter of the type in which a pair of contacts in circuit with an induction coil and an electric supply are closed and then sharply opened by means of a wick holder wetted with inflammable fuel, the tip 43 of a single upstanding resilient contact finger 42 is located in a guideway 38 formed by a pair of parallel contact strips 39 secured to the top of the casing 1, the finger 43 and contact strips 39 being connected to the electric supply and coil, and the tip of a wick holder 31 removably plugged into a fuel reservoir 23 in the casing can be drawn along the guideway 38 to strike, flex and release the contact finger 42 to produce a fuel igniting spark. The wick holder 31 has a plate 34 at its upper end serving as a finger shield and adapted to cover the guideway 38 when the wick holder is slid into a reservoir inlet tube 24. A strip 29 of absorbent material is pressed against the open end of the inlet tube 24 and into contact with the protruding end of the wick 32 by means of a flat spring 30 extending across the bottom of the fuel reservoir. The casing 1 is divided into two compartments 11, 12, the lower one containing an electric battery, the upper one housing one or two induction coils.
