Abstract

636,060. Cigarette lighter. JORGENSEN, B. Aug. 19, 1947, No. 22963. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1939. [Class 75 (iii)] A cigarette lighter in which methyl alcohol vapour from an absorbent mass 2 is ignited by a platinum incandescent filament, has an apertured cover 4 and a closure member 8 therefor which on movement to the open position completes an electric circuit. The lighter comprises a casing 1 of electrically non- conducting material which is divided into two compartments, one compartment having fire-resistant walls 1a contains an absorbent 2, moistened with methyl alcohol the other compartment contains an electric storage battery 5. The cover 4 is electrically conducting, is slotted at 10, and apertured at 13, and has a closure 8 operated by lug 9 slidable in the slot. When in the fully open position the electrical circuit is completed from terminal 7 through slide 8, projection 9, cover 4, conductor 11, platinum filament 3, conductor 12 to terminal 6.
