Abstract

612,379. Printing. DELLOW, T. W. May 23. 1946, No. 15644. [Class 100(ii)] A roller hand stamp of the kind in which the printing-roller actuates a spring which returns the roller to its starting position after an impression has been made is constructed so that the roller 4, Figs. 1 and 3, is normally maintained by a spring 8 in such a position that the printing-surface 5 is maintained with its operative part within a casing formed of a side member 1 integral with a top part 17 and a side member 2a connected by a spindle 3 and a screw to the side member 1 with which is connected an apertured bottom plate 7 through which the roller 4 can operate. The front 7a of the plate 7 serves as an index mark. and a card corresponding to the printed matter may be arranged between the part 17 and a window 18. The spring 8 engages a fixed stop on the front 2a, and has a bent part which may be inserted in one of four holes 11 in the roller 4. The printing surface 5 is preferably of rubber and is formed with bearer margins 5a. The inking roller 12 is of felt and is mounted in slots 15 and is pressed by a U-shaped spring 14 also guided in slots in the casing. The inking device can be removed through an aperture normally closed by a slide 16. In a modification Fig. 6, the casing is formed of separate units connected as shown, and the roller 4 is mounted on a spindle 3 riveted at one end to one side of the casing and connected by a screw 19 to the other side. One end of the spring 8 is secured between pressed out portions of a stop lug 21 secured to the casing, and a lug 23 on the casing engages a stop pin on the roller to limit its rotation. The ink roller is mounted detachably in a U-shaped spring arm, and may be replenished with ink through an opening in the floor of the casing.
