[Class 29] A multiple-locker cold-storage chamber comprises banks of food lockers 7a accessible through doors 3a leading from a passage 5a into corridors 2a, 2b containing groups of cooling elements 1a each comprising several plate-like members connected in series. Each plate-like member comprises two sheet metal plates 1, 2 joined together to form a hermetically sealed chamber containing a refrigerating coil 5 with flattened sides 6, 7. The plate members may be evacuated to cause the plates 1, 2 to grip the coil 5 and may be filled with an eutectic solution 8a. The cooling plates are suspended above head height from the ceilings of the corridors and the cold air enters the lockers and passes over the food therein.
