Abstract
546,540. Heat insulation. TUGWOOD, R. J. (American Flange and Manufacturing Co., Inc.). Jan. 16, 1941, No. 619. [Class 64 (ii)] Heat insulation suitable for a refrigerator comprises a unit consisting of a frame 16 which supports sheets 17, 18 of terneplate (sheet iron with a coating of lead 85-87 per cent., and tin 13-15 per cent.). Such sheets have low reflective power for visible radiation, and high reflective power for infra-red radiation. The sheets divide the insulating space into sealed and unobstructed air layers. The sheets may be plane or ribbed. In an application to wall construction, Fig. 4, an air space 31 is isolated by a similar metal sheet 32 with flanged edges. Specification 410,365 is referred to.
