Abstract
611,697. Electromagnetic relays. RAMSEY, A. R. J. (Guardian Electric Manufacturing Co.). May 6, 1946, No. 13716. [Class 38 (v)] The armatture 29 of a relay is pivoted on a non-ferrous bracket 21 so as always to leave an air gap C between the armature and the yoke 11 and so avoid any sticking action at the hinged end of the armature. The armature is biassed by a spring 33 and its other end carries an insulating member 51 connected to the moving contacts 42. In manufacturing the relay, two sub-units are first assembled, unit A comprising the core, winding and yoke 11 and unit B comprising bracket 21, armature and contact springs. Units A and B are then fixed together by screwing the bracket 21 to the yoke 11. Units A adapted for varying currents may thus readily be assembled with selected units B having different arrangements of contact springs. Specification 611,698 is referred to.
