Abstract
611,368. Automatic exchange switches. TENCH, F. (Automatique Electrique Soc. Anon.). April 30, 1946, No. 12943. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A switch is actuated by a ratchet-and-pawl mechanism in which the pawl is returned to its normal position after de-energization of the magnet by a spring-pressed rod which operates directly on the pawl. The Figure shows a rotary switch 14 carrying a ratchet-wheel 13 which is actuated by a pawl 16 pivoted to an arm 15 formed in one with the armature 17. A spring 18 keeps the pawl in engagement with the wheel 13. The Figure shows the armature in the attracted position. When the magnet 11 is de-energized, the pawl is returned to its normal position by a rod 24 which bears on the end of the pawl. A spring 25 surrounds the rod to which it is secured at 26, the other end of the spring being fixed to an adjustable sleeve 21. The rod is slidable in the sleeve 21 and in a lug 19 fixed to the base-plate 10. When the armature 17 is attracted by the energized magnet the pawl pushes the rod 24 in the direction of the sleeve 21 and compresses the spring 25. The Provisional Specification states that instead of the spring-pressed rod a blade spring acting directly on the pawl may be used.
