Abstract
620,747. Electric selectors. DEHN, F. B. (Wurlitzer Co., R.). June 8, 1945, No. 14580. [Class 40 (iv)] An electric impulse actuated switch comprises a wiper arm 167 fixed to but insulated from a rotatable shaft 165 which also carries an insulated contact arm 168 wiping over a conducting segment 171. Energization of a magnet 153 rocks through its armature 173 a spring-biassed collar 174, rotatably mounted on the shaft 165, whereby a spring-biassed pawl 175 pivoted to the collar and normally held out of engagement with a ratchet-wheel 166 is rocked to advance the latter and the shaft 165 to which it is fixed, one step. A pin 180 on the collar 174 actuates switch contacts 157. The latching relay 163 upon energization rocks its armature 183 against its biassing spring 185, an extension 186 of 183 engaging a pin 187 on a locking pawl and forcing it into engagement with the ratchet-wheel 166 to prevent reverse rotation thereof. When the relay 163 is de-energized a further extension 190 of its armature 183 engages the pin 187 to lift the locking pawl 188 out of engagement with the ratchet-wheel 166 which with the shaft 165 and wiper arms is then returned to normal by a biassing spring 191.
