Abstract
610,709. Perforating. ELOX CORPORATION. Oct. 19, 1944, No. 20257. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1943. [Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group II] In a method of piercing holes in electricallyconducting material, an electric arc is made and broken intermittently between the material and an electrode, while a stream of cooling water is directed continuously on the seat of the arc. As shown, applied to the removal of a broken stud 61 in a workpiece 19, a hollow electrode 55, through which cooling water from a valve 49 passes, is reciprocated by means of a cam 29 driven by a motor 25 operating on a tappet head 33 against a spring 35, the workpiece being one terminal of an electric circuit and the electrode the other. The device may be mounted on a frame 11 adjustably supported on a base 13 for manual adjustment by a lever 15. Specification 578,933 is referred to.
