610,480. Current supplying stands for electric irons. EUREKA WILLIAMS CORPORATION. April 8, 1946, No. 10742. Convention date, May 17, 1945. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A cordless iron comprises a sole plate 10, for which is a heating element 12, exposed terminals 14 (see Fig. 3, not shown), and a base 16 for supporting the iron, the base having terminals arranged to be engaged by these on the iron when it is in position on the base, and carrying a normally-closed switch 22 in the supply circuit to the base terminals the switch being situated ahead of one of them, a thermally responsive element 24 in the iron serving via a connecting member 26 to open the switch 22 on a predetermined temperature being attained. The iron rests on the base 16 at the part 30 and where two spaced abutments 32 on the heel of the iron engage shoulders on the base. A knob 28 enables the spring contacts 38 and 60 to be depressed or raised to determine the temperature at which the element 24 will be sufficiently deflected to cause the member 26, pivoted about the point 46, to exert pressure on a plunger 50 and hence depress the lower spring contact 58 to open the supply circuit.
