Abstract

A fireproof plastic composition contains cresol - formaldehyde, benzal chloride, ortho dichlorobenzene, shredded bagasse and ammonium metaborate. Cresol-formaldehyde may be replaced by cellulose aceto-butyrate, polymethyl-methacrylate, polystyrene, polyvinyl alcohol, phenolurea - formaldehyde, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl choride and copolymers of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride. Benzyl chloride may replace benzal chloride. Shredded bagasse may be replaced by paper, paper pulp, chemical or mechanical wood pulp, wood fibres, wood chips, sawdust, bambou, balsa wood, cork, sisal, hemp, flax, esparto, reeds, straw, liquorice root or coir.
