Abstract
In the process for the manufacture of glucose by the conversion of starch in aqueous acid medium, a starch suspension is introduced into the converter under the liquid level at a point at which it can be rapidly heated and distributed through the liquid, preferably at a point as close as possible to the steam supply and to any stirring device which may be present. The filling may take place against a super-atmospheric pressure present in the converter.
