[Class 140] [Also in Group XXIII] In a modification form of the plywood structure according to the parent Specification wherein an inner or intermediate layer is adapted to form a series of cells with the adjacent layer on one or each side of the inner layer, at least one of the layers comprising wood laminae united by adhesive and densified under high pressure, the inner layer is of expanded or foamed material such as natural or synthetic hard rubber, the small cells formed in the material by the expanding providing the cells between the inner and outer layers, and the outer layer of compressed laminated wood extends over the whole area of the structure. The inner layer may be corrugated to provide also large cells between it and the outer layers. Distance pieces such as wooden blocks joining the two outer layers and separating portions of the expanded material may be provided. One or more laminated additional layers consisting of wood or other fibrous material such as textile fabric or paper pulp, with which metal sheets, metal foil or wire netting may be included, may be provided in the inner layer lying substantially parallel to the surface of the structure; these additional layers may be flat or corrugated.
