Abstract

606,591. Snap fasteners. EDSON, B. Jan. 16, 1946, No. 1474. [Class 44] The female element is made from solid bar metal stock as by machining, boring or slotting operations, and has a shank 10, with a through bore 14 of reduced diameter at its inner end, where it terminates in an annular flange 11. This latter has radial slots which extend from the periphery through the wall of the shank and part-way along the length of the shank as at 18 so as to provide expansible and contractible segments. The male element, likewise made from bar metal stock, comprises a shank 22 terminating at its inner end in an annular flange 23, and has an integral wedge-shaped stud 24 extending inwardly from flange 23. The outer ends of shanks 10 and 22 may be of reduced diameter and riveted to supports 19, 28, e.g. button elements 19, 28 of cuff links. The male element may also have an internal bore 27.
