Abstract

606,516. Automatic exchange switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Aug. 18, 1945, No. 21131. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1944. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In an arrangement comprising several wiper switches whose contact banks are multipled together, any terminal bank may be used either for co-operation with switch wipers or for connecting the multiple with an incoming cable. The terminal banks which may be of the kind described in Specifications 585,137 and 591,532 are arranged in 3 pairs of opposite compartments, wires, such as 8, 9, Fig. 2, extending between and protruding into such pairs of compartments to form the terminals normally used for co-operation with wipers such as 7 which move perpendicular to the paper. Multipling between pairs of compartments is effected by transverse wires 12. The terminals of the spare compartment 15 are connected to the incoming cable 16 by means of jacks 21. The ends of each jack are split into two tongues 23, 24, Fig. 5, flared at their free ends to facilitate placing over the terminal 10 and having their inner surfaces curved so as to bend the terminal 10 and ensure a secure fit and good contact.
