[Class 40 (iv)] In a method of installing a pair of multi-core cables, e.g. the go and return cables for a multichannel carrier system, two equal factory lengths in which the average of the mutual capacities per unit length (or of the impedances or of the values of some other parameter representative of impedance) are within predetermined limits aro laid side by side and are then halved and cross-connected. Alternatively, the halving may be done in the factory. The lengths may be divided into even numbers of parts other than two, cross-connections being made at the odd-numbered divisions and optionally also at the even-numbered divisions.
