Abstract

[Class 36] [Also in Group X] A vertical conduit structure for electric cables is built up in sections of suitable height, each section comprising a number of vertical tubes 12 secured at top and bottom to boxings 14 and adapted to carry at an intermediate height between the boxings a platform 21 having a trapdoor therein, the structure being open up the middle so that a man may go up or down. Certain of the tubes 13 (e.g. the corner ones) may be heavier to support the structure, and ladder rungs may be incorporated between any two adjacent tubes. Fig. 3 shows the plan of a rectangular structure, but any polygonal or circular form may be used. The cables may be diverted from one tube to another at the boxings to avoid undue strain, or may be carried out of the structure to feed intermediate levels. The structure may be braced to an existing building or erected in a specially constructed shaft or well in a new building.
