Abstract

1,135,077. Lattice masts. GRANGER ASSOCIATES. 12 Aug., 1966 [16 Aug., 1965], No. 36267/66. Heading E1B. A metal lattice mast comprises a number of superposed sections interconnected by bolted or rivetted splice plates 7, each mast section comprising three equilaterally-positioned legs 6 interconnected by Warren bracing 10 of tubular or angle section. Each leg 6 may comprise a channel having a central web and equal-width 60-degree flanges. Alternatively each leg 6 may have any other cross-section (e.g. an ellipse) which is such that the maximum and minimum radii of gyrations about axes through its centre of gravity are in the ratio 2:1. The tower is braced at the top and intermediately, by guy ropes 17 attached to bars 12, the lower ends of the guys being connected through turnbuckles 18, and plates 19 to anchor rods 20.
