Abstract

606,148. Brackets. THOMSON, W. M. Dec. 4, 1945, No. 32723. [Class 52(v)] [Also in Group XXV] A spring clip for connecting cables, trays, pipes, and other fittings to approximately horizontal flanges 12, Fig. 4, of structural members, comprises a curved upper jaw 1 and a flat lower jaw 2 having a flat-sided recess or depression 4, rectangular in the form shown, for the reception non-turnably of a square- or other flatsided screw-threaded nut 9 co-operating with a bolt 11 to connect the fitting to the clip and thereby to the flange. The bolt shank 10 is slidable along the slot 5 to suit the location desired for the fitting. The upper jaw is curved to enable the clip to fit various thicknesses of flange. Both jaws of the clip have out-turned lips 6 to facilitate engagement with the flange, and the back 3 is curved with diameter substantially greater than the width between the jaws when open. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the upper jaw 1a is flat and the hexagonal or other flat-sided head 8 of a bolt is accommodated in the depression 4 instead of the nut.
