605,901. Artificial teeth. GOLDSCHMIDT, E. E. Dec. 29, 1945, No. 35163. [Class 81 (ii)] A denture 10 comprises one or more artificial teeth, means for supporting the teeth and one or more permanently magnetizable bodies 12 all of which are embedded and wholly enclosed in the denture, one polar extremity in the material of an artificial tooth and the other in the supporting means, the bodies being adapted when magnetized to assist the retention of the denture in position when in the mouth by reacting magnetically with other permanently magnetised bodies in the mouth. The magnetizable material, e.g. aluminiumnickel-cobalt-copper steel, may be magnetized before or after embedding in the teeth during the moulding process, may be hollow, may have a forked end extending into the support, preferably has a high length to cross-section ratio and preferably has its polar surface arranged close to the biting surface of the tooth. The reacting material may be in a second denture 11 or embedded in natural teeth. The magnets may be arranged to exert side thrust as well as repulsion of the dentures. U.S.A. Specification 2,149,048 is referred to. The Provisional Specification describes the use of U-shaped magnets and of magnets attached to or constituting the teeth wholly or in part.
