Abstract
A mixture comprising cyanuric acid and ammelide is produced by heating urea or biuret at 200-250 DEG C. until the biuret content of the product is reduced to 10 per cent to zero and preferably not more than 5 per cent by weight. The heating may be conducted in a stirred jacketted vessel which may be provided with a suction line for removal of volatile nitrogen compounds. The product may be granulated, after crushing if necessary, while mixing at 40 DEG C. by spraying with hot water or a 10-15 per cent aqueous solution of urea.ALSO:A mixture comprising ammelide and cyanuric acid is produced by heating urea or biuret at 200-250 DEG C. until the biuret content of the product is reduced to 10 per cent to zero and preferably not more than 5 per cent by weight.
