Abstract
Agglomerated products of refractory material are prepared by fusing the material, subjecting it to rapid cooling so as to prevent the formation of large crystals, crushing the products so as to obtain a mixture of granules and fine powder, agglomerating the mixture under pressure, and fining. Cooling of the fused material may be obtained by allowing the material to fall on to a rotating disc on to which a spray of water is directed. The materials treated are the oxides of magnesium, silicon, zirconium, chromium, aluminium, calcium, barium, or beryllium alone or in a mixture.
