Abstract

604,559. Spray guns. AKTIEBOLAGET ATLAS DIESEL, and BJORKMAN, G. E. Nov. 27, 1945, No. 32013. [Class 69 (iii)] The trigger of a spray-gun is adapted to displace an intermediate member in the longitudinal direction of the gun body and valve spindle so as to operate both the valve spindle and a separate pressure medium control valve. As shown, the valve spindle 7 is sealed against the spray pressure by a packing 12 and a packing nut 13 screwed into a bushing 14. The nut 13 has a hexagonal extension on which a sleeve 17, carrying a further sleeve 19 fixed to it, can slide without rotation, so that together they form the intermediate member. The packing nut 13 can be tightened by rotating the sleeve 19. The sleeve 19 is moved axially by its abutment at 39 with the trigger 18, and the guide 20 in which the sleeve moves is axially adjustable by the rotation of a nut 21 projecting through slots at the sides of the gun. The guide is prevented from rotating itself by a keyway and provides an adjustable limit stop for the trigger, and as shown, is screwed right up to preclude any motion of the valves. The intermediate member 17, 19 displaces the valve spindle 7 against spring pressure by acting on a sleeve 9 adjustably fixed to it, and it also opens the air valve 26 through a bell-crank and stem 23. Air passes from this valve to a space 29 from whence part of it goes through an adjustable reduction valve 31 to apply pressure to the spraying liquid in a container 6 and the rest passes by a duct 30 to the spray nozzle, being preferably valve controlled at 16.
