Abstract

A germicide is prepared by adding to each gram molecular weight of phenol, cresol, hexylresorcinol, resorcinol or thymol, one gram equivalent weight of any inorganic oxidizing agent which is soluble in an aqueous solution of the selected member without forming a precipitate or causing decomposition of the selected member. Specified oxidizing agents are ferric chloride, ferric sulphate, manganic chloride and manganic sulphate. The germicide is employed in aqueous solution.
