Abstract

604,083. Grease interceptors. JOSAM MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 23, 1945, No. 31685. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1944. [Class 33] In liquid-handling apparatus which includes an oil and/or grease interceptors, means are provided for by-passing excess Iiquid around the interceptor. Liquid is introduced by an inlet pipe 15 with a culvert-like portion into a diverting compartment 2, and normally it all passes into a known type of interceptor 1. From this the clarified water is discharged into a collecting compartment 3 with an outlet 20, whilst the oil and grease passes through an outlet 35 into a tank 36. Excess liquid, due for example to flood or storm, will overflow the pipe 15 and pass through a by-pass conduit 19 direct to the compartment 3. The interceptor 1 may be fitted with a sediment bucket 25, and an auxiliary storm sewer 23 may communicate with the conduit 19. A number of interceptors may be connected in series between the compartments 2, 3.
