[Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer in which the deflection of the belt from a predetermined alignment operates a servomotor deflecting the axis of a roller over which the belt is guided, the belt 1, at one or more places in its run, passes over a group of rollers 3 mounted on a carriage 39 rotatable about an axis 4 at right angles to the axes of the rollers. When the belt is deflected it comes into contact with one of a pair of feelers at the side of the belt and causes the closing of the circuit of a reversible electric motor 9. A shaft 11, Fig. 5, driven by the motor has a crank which is connected by links 12, 13 to crank arms 14, 15 rotating about shafts 16, 17. Each crank arm carries two pairs of doubleacting pivoted pawls 21, 22 which are rigid with crank arms 23, 24. Links 25, 26 connect the arms 23, 24 to a friction pad 27 which engages a drum 28 on the shaft 11. The pawls engage two pairs of ratchet-wheels 19a, 19b, 20a and 20b mounted between bearings 29, 30, Fig. 4, which are threaded internally to engage the oppositely screwed shafts 16, 17. These shafts have a sliding key engagement with fixed bushes 35, 36 and bear against the end of the carriage 39. When either of the ratchetwheels is rotated, one shaft will be moved inwards and the other outwards to cause and allow rotation of the carriage about the axis 4. In a modification, the feelers are dispensed with and the circuit of the motor is closed through a relay operated by photo-electric cell or similar means, the light path of which is interrupted by the edges of the conveyer.
