[Classes 66 and 125(iii)] A collapsable tube 1, Fig. 1, of paper or celluloid or synthetic rubber, or of sheet material coated with thermoplastic o r heat-sealing material is made by folding one end of an openended cylindrical blank as illustrated, Fig. 5, against a mandrel which has a projecting tongue 18 to provide a channel for extrusion of the tube contents, the folded walls being sealed as by shaped, electrically-heated clamps pressing the walls together at the neck 4, Fig. 1, and against the mandrel which may also be heated, at the shoulders 2. The tubular blank may be seamless, or formed with a longitudinal or helical seam. In a modification, the pleated parts of the neck are held together by U-section metallic or plastic clamps. The mouth of the tube is closed as by a slotted disc 33.
