603,483. Changing signs. EQUIPMENT & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and LORKIN, W. L. Feb. 7, 1946, No. 3869. [Class 3(i)] In a destination indicator wherein friction is applied to the blind rollers by means of friction faces pressed against the roller flanges by main compression springs, a counter compression spring acts in opposition to the main springs and is adjustable to vary the pressure on the friction faces. As shown in Fig. 1, the device comprises a pair of rollers 4 carrying the name blind. Friction is applied by abrasive washers 6 mounted on a floating plate 2 pressed towards the roller ends by compression springs 7. To adjust the pressure, a counter compression spring 10, surrounding a guide pin 8 and on the reverse side of the plate 2, is provided and is locked by nuts 9, 11. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two or more counter compression springs are mounted on extensions of the guide pins 3. The central pin 8 is then omitted. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), a plate is fixed to the back plate 1 and carries two or more cup headed screws. These adjust the pressure on springs carried in the cups and bearing on the floating plate 2. Fig. 4 shows the invention applied to an individual friction unit. The back member 1 fixed to the casing carries a sliding member 15 the front flange of which carries an abrasive disc 17. The roller end is journalled in the hole 18. Compression is applied by a spring 19 and counter compression by a spring 22 bearing on projections 21 and adjusted by a nut 23. The projections 21 slide in slots 20 in the back member 1:
