603,089. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. JACK & HEINTZ RESEARCH CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1945, No. 4385. Convention date, June 29, 1943. [Class 135] In an automatic pilot for an aircraft, the control knob 7, Fig. 1, operates a friction brake controlling the rate of movement of the rudder synchronizing shaft 32 which is driven by an air turbine through a train of reduction gears 34-48.. The turbine is locked by the ball 17, Fig. 6, engaging between the turbine buckets. Turning of the knob 6 to the left or right operates a valve which allows air, via the passages 21, 23, or 20, 22, to move the piston 10 so that the ball rides into one of the pockets 31<SP>1</SP>, 31 respectively, and unlocks the turbine which is then driven in one direction or the other by air jets from the passages 19 or 18.
