[Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] A device for adjusting the tension of an endless chain 18 which passes over the crankshaft 11 and cam-shafts 12, 13, of an internalcombustion engine, consists of a tensioning sprocket 17 over which the chain passes, the position of the sprocket being adjustable by means of an arm 20 pivoted on a pin 21, the arm 20 coacting with an adjustable abutment 22 and being pressed thereagainst by a helical torsion spring 23, Fig. 2. Damping is provided for the sprocket 17 by the hub 24 of the arm 20 being pressed by the spring against a surface 25 of the casing.
