Abstract

PURPOSE:To ease assembling a tension unit in such a way that the tensioner body which is brought into contact with a transmission belt is pivotally fixed at the free end of a rocker arm, and they are integrated to give tension to the transmission belt through the tensioner body by means of an impetus giving member, such as a spring or the like whose one end is fixed at the rocker arm. CONSTITUTION:In case where it is applied to a V-type internal combustion engine equipped with a DOHC model valve mover mechanism, the tensioner body 16 which is arciformly bent is arranged on the outside of the slack side of a transmission chain 15 for revolving a pair of valve mover cam shafts 5, 6 which are supported on each cylinder head 3. One end 17 of the body 16 is pivotally fixed to be freely revolvable on the body of the engine, and the other end 18 is pivotally by a pivot pin 20 at the free end of a rocker arm 21 whose base end is pivotally supported as shown by 31 at the upper part of a support frame 26. And the determined tension is given to the transmission chain 15 through the tensioner body 16 by tensibly bridging between the intermediate part of the rocker arm 21 and a rocker engaging strip 32 which is pivotally fixed as shown by 33 on the lower part support frame 27.
