Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent jumping or the like at the time of high-speed operation of an engine, by balancing the intake system and the exhaust system by increasing the weight of a rocker arm of a light exhaust valve and decreasing the weight of a rocker arm of a heavy intake valve through improvement in the disposition of a camshaft, ignition pulg, etc. CONSTITUTION:In case that a cylinder head of this invention is applied in a four-valve engine having two exhaust valves 1 and two intake valves 2 respectively, a camshaft 5 is disposed upwardly of a combustion chamber 4 formed in cylinder head 3 such that it is located on the side of intake valves 2. The camshaft 5 is rotated by a chain (not shown) wound around a crank shaft and a driving sprocket 6 of the camshaft 5. Further, the camshaft 5 is provided with an intake cam 7 and an exhaust cam 8 on the side of sprocket 6. Here, arrangement is such that rocker arms 9, 10 respectively of intake valves 2 and exhaust valves 1 are held in contact with the cams 7, 8, and contact surfaces 11, 12 of these cams 7, 8 are disposed near the positions located above the center of combustion chamber 4. Further, an ignition plug 13 is disposed, with some inclination, on the side of exhaust valves 1 from the center of combustion chamber 4 and on the opposite side of sprocket 6.
