Abstract

603,036. Roller bearings. BRANT, E. H. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30824. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group II] A ball mill-rack comprises a pair of parallel shafts, means for driving said shafts, a pair of friction wheels on each shaft, and a flange extending radially from the outer face of each of the wheels on one of said shafts, the wheels on the other shaft being capable of being spaced closer together than said flanges, said friction wheels being adapted to co-operate to support and rotate by friction a cylindrical vessel resting upon them with its axis parallel to said shafts and its ends located by said flanges. Mounted in bearings in a low framework are three parallel shafts, 7, 8 each carrying four pairs of friction wheels 9, 10 respectively, the wheels 9 being in the form of integral pairs of plain discs fixed to the shaft 7, and the wheels 10, which have narrow flanges 14 extending beyond main driving surfaces 15, being separate and adjustably mounted on the shafts 8. The shafts are driven from pulleys 20, 21 and chains 16, 23. The rack is shown rotating a large bottle 25 and a small one 26 containing the charge of balls and material to be ground.
