Abstract
603,033. Ironing by dielectric heating. HOOVER, Ltd. Nov. 16. 1945, No. 30821. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1944. [Class 39(iii)] An ironing apparatus comprises, an ironing table 11 containing comb-shaped electrodes 32, 33 connected to a high frequency generator 13 and an iron 50 containing a metal plate capacitively connected with electrodes 32, 33 in the table. The material to be ironed is heated between the electrodes 32, 33, and the third electrode contained in the iron. by dielectric loss within the material. The frequency of the generator 13 may be varied by a control knob 14 to provide a different degree of heating. according to the nature of the material to be ironed.
