[Class 135] [Also in Group XII] In a damper construction in which a damper blade 1 is pivoted as at 3 about one side of a frame 5, a flexible heat-resisting sealing member 9, provided with a tightening weight 18, is suspended from said frame 5 and engaged between raised surfaces 11 and 13 on the frame 5 and a protective frame 12 respectively, providing a flexible and secure joint between frame and blade. Across the top of a rod 21 attached to the damper blade is fixed a lever linked at one end to a counter weight 35 holding said blade in the closed position and linked at the other end to a pulley 27, movement of an associated cord 37 operating the damper. The flexible member 9 may be attached to the damper blade or applied to a sliding damper construction, and the invention is said to be applicable to flues, economizers, induced draught fans, dust precipitators &c.
