Abstract
601,145. Automatic control systems. TEDDINGTON CONTROLS, Ltd., and BUSH, E. J. March 1, 1946, No. 6427. [Class 38 (iv)] Temperature.-In a thermostatic control system of the type described in Specification 569,955 for controlling an engine cooling system in which a thermal switch 4 selects the forward and reverse field 7a and 7b of an electric motor or electrically - operated fluid - pressure jack through relays 5 or 6, a follow-up cam on the control element opening the thermal switch, but the field being maintained energized by the relay 5 or 6 which remains locked until its holding circuit is broken by a snap-over switch 8 actuated by a member 10 on the shaft of the follow-up cam, the simultaneous holding of both field relays 5 and 6 is prevented by providing a cam 15 movable with the follow-up device and provided with raised portions to open the hold-on circuit of the energized field relay as the motor approaches the end of its travel.
