[Class 20(ii)] A form for shuttering, for constructional work in concrete, comprises a four-sided metal sheet 1 with metal edge stiffeners 2, 3, 4, 5, one pair of edge stiffeners 2 and 3 . being of channel section with the channels facing outwards and the other pair of stiffeners 4, 5 being provided with projecting parts on their outer sides adapted to nest within channels similar to the elements 2 and 3. One of the pairs of stiffeners e.g. 2, 3 extends a short distance outwards beyond the edges of the sheet and the other pair is correspondingly set back therefrom, the sheet edges abutting to form a continuous surface when the shuttering forms are engaged edge to edge. In the preferred arrangement, Fig. 4, the edge stiffeners 4, 5 are of channel section, the projecting parts being formed by deformation of the bottom of the channel, as at 9. The projecting parts may also be separate spaced lugs fixed to the bottom of the channel. The inter-engaged forms may be connected e.g. by bolting, but the preferred means is the clamp described in Specification 600,544, [Group XXIII]. The forms may be arranged to produce shuttering with right-angled corners, disposed and clamped as in Specification 600,544. The forms may also be connected at any angle by the use of an auxiliary hinge piece which comprises members 40 and 41 of bent sheet steel having staggered slots 42 which inter-engage, a pin 43 being passed through to form a hinged joint. The member 40 is secured to a shuttering form through a steel bar 45 welded therein and bent to nest in the edge stiffener 2, Fig. 12; the member 41 is likewise secured through a flat steel bar 44 which fits under the projection 9 of the edge stiffener 4. The auxiliary hinge pieces may also be used for filling spaces too small for a standard shuttering form. Cross-bracing elements 12 of angle or channel iron may be incorporated and these and the elements. 2, 3, 4 and 5 have bolt holes 13 near their ends for the connection of auxiliary shuttering parts. Bolt holes 14 are also formed in the sheet 1, which may be closed, to provide a flush surface, by filling pieces consisting of discs 15 each having a pair of bent cross strips 16 whose ends project to form radial lugs 17 for engagement beneath tongues 18 bent up from the periphery of a disc 19 welded to the back of the sheet, the cross strips 16 forming handles for rotating the discs into engagement. The shuttering forms may be assembled otherwise than with all junctions aligned, e.g. with vertical joints aligned, the horizontal joints may be staggered to produce shuttering starting from other than a flat base.
