Abstract

599,948. Telemotor systems. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Sept. 25, 1945, No. 24853. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1944. [Class 69 (ii)] Mechanism for a hydraulic control system comprises a cylinder, means slidable in the cylinder and responsive to a change in volume of liquid in the system, and means for acting on said slidable means to compensate the system automatically for changes in liquid volume due to temperature variations. The cylinder 70 contains two pistons 94, 96 with racks 114, 116 engaging a pinion-wheel 118 rotatably mounted on a pin 120 on the rod 92. The space between the pistons is in free communication with a space 74 filled with gas at a predetermined pressure. Changes in volume in the liquid in the system will cause the pistons to move towards or away from each other under compression or expansion of the gas between them. The pin 120 is connected to a mechanism for indicating the condition of the liquid in the system. Valves such as 66, 68 are provided for removing air from the system and initially synchronizing it. A modified embodiment is described in which the rod 92 is replaced by a racked sleeve, and the space between the pistons is filled with liquid under pressure of a gas acting on a flexible diaphragm.
