Abstract

599,250. Electromagnetic switches. WILLIAMSON, S. Sept. 14, 1943, No. 15062. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Group XX] In an arrangement which may be used to stop the action of a cinematograph camera shortly after a gun has ceased firing or for controlling the operation of a guillotine for separating photographic prints shortly after the web of paper has reached a certain point the de-energisation of a magnet 7 causes a circuit 11, 12 to be opened after a delay determined by a wheel 14 which has been clutched to a driving mechanism by the de-energisation. In the form shown, closure of a master switch 6 energises the magnet 7 which attracts its armature 8 to close at 11, 12 the circuit to a motor 1 driving a shaft 4 and to withdraw the disc 14 so that a slot 16 is free from the shaft 4 and a spring 15 rotates the disc to a starting position in which a stop 17 engages an adjustable stop 18. On opening the switch 6, the magnet 7 is deenergised and the periphery of the disc brought into engagement with the rotating shaft 4. Then after a time interval the notch 16 reaches the shaft, the armature tilts still further and the contacts 11, 12 open.
