Abstract

Carbon bisulphide is recovered from viscose filaments or bundles such as rayon or staple fibre in bobbins, cakes, rolls or piles preferably previously washed in cold water, by treating the viscose with steam, condensing the mixture of evaporated carbon disulphide and water, separating the liquid mixture obtained therefrom, and withdrawing the resultant liquid layers separately, the condensing and separating installation being rapidly swept with a current of steam before each operation. The evaporator may be a boiler or a vat, provided with closing means, and may contain a monorail in its upper part from which carriers for bobbins, &c. are suspended.ALSO:Carbon bisulphide is recovered from viscose filaments or bundles, such as rayon or staple fibre in bobbins, cakes, rolls or piles, preferably previously washed in cold water, by treating the viscose with steam, condensing the mixture of evaporated carbon bisulphide and water, separating the liquid mixture obtained therefrom, and withdrawing the resultant liquid layers separately, the condensing and separating installation being rapidly swept by a current of steam before each operation.
